There are many types of visas. A language school could get you in for I believe two years. There are cultural visas that can be 2- 3 years.

There are several ways to stay in Japan for 6 months or longer without having to leave every 90 days. For example, Designated Activities Visa, Digital Nomad Visa, Cultural Activities Visa, Student Visa, etc. Some of these require you to prove a certain level of savings or income though. Where are you from? Some countries don't even require a visa upfront. Better to check the requirements for your case.
