Description

Located in a residential neighborhood near Hon-Kugenuma Station, there is a somewhat eye-catching building. Passersby might think it’s an inn or a restaurant, but this is an apartment complex built on the site of a former large estate. The owner wanted to preserve the atmosphere of the old mansion-like streetscape of Hon-Kugenuma, so this building was constructed with that in mind. It is a collective residence that modernizes the best features of old Japanese houses. After passing through the gate there is a corridor with terrace-house–style units lining both sides. The available unit is the innermost one: on the 2nd floor there is an LDK (living/dining/kitchen, approx. 10 tatami), a loft, and an adjacent raised tatami seating area; on the 1st floor there is a Japanese-style room (4.5 tatami), etc.
