The island has two ports; this property is in a residential area about a 7-minute walk from Ohara Port (the port closer to Ishigaki Island — roughly a 45-minute ferry ride). A supermarket and the post office are nearby.

Since the UNESCO listing, the island has seen an increase in tourists, and there is a shortage of accommodations. This is a rare, consolidated parcel within the village of Taketomi Island, which is famous for its water buffalo and red‑tiled roof scenery. There are four contiguous lots. The registered land category (chimoku) is "school site." Currently three lots are classified as wasteland (原野) and one lot is registered as farmland but is presently a flat vacant lot. The property has roads on three sides, making subdivision easy.

One lot is registered as farmland but there should be no obstacle to converting it from agricultural use. However, Taketomi Island is designated as a townscape preservation area similar to Shirakawa‑go, so a townscape ordinance applies: building permissions are generally limited to single‑story structures, roofs must be red tiles, and other restrictions are likely to apply. The site is suitable for high‑end residential development, upscale weekly apartments and villas, or a small luxury resort hotel. It is a corner lot along the circular road, conveniently located within walking distance of a supermarket and eateries. The plot is bordered by land owned by Taketomi Town between the sale site and the road, but I have confirmed that it can be leased from the town, so this is not a problem.
