I recently learned a new word — “kijuku” (木熟) — which refers to fruit that is left to ripen on the tree rather than being harvested and ripened in storage. It was new to me, and it made me wonder how that idea might translate to a house. This home, built by GITAKU, can be regarded as one of their earlier residential projects. It features a large atrium (open to above), wooden ceilings, a wooden deck, and a traditional Japanese-style room (washitsu).最近知った新しい言葉ですが、果物などの木に成る実について、収穫してから保管して熟すのではなく、木に実ったまま熟成させた果実のことを「木熟(きじゅく)」と言ったりするみたいなんです。はじめて聞きましたが、それを家に置き換えたらどうかな?なんて考えてみたくなります。技拓によって建てられたこの家は、技拓にとっては初期の頃の住宅といえると思います。大きな吹き抜け、木製天井、ウッドデッキ、和室などの特徴があります。
