The house in Kita-Ibaraki is surrounded by the mountains of the Abukuma mountains on three sides, with villages scattered on the northeast side, and fields spreading out in front of the site, which can be said to be the original scenery of the Japan. There is also a tenement gate on the premises that seems to be around the late Edo period. In his talk about the revitalization, Mr. O, the owner, said, "In the future, I want to leave a house that my children can feel like home." The house, which is said to have been built in the late Meiji period and is about 110 years old, was planned with the aim of being passed on to the next generation as a new living vessel for three generations and six people. We conducted a field survey during the revitalization, confirmed the degree of deterioration and the history of expansion and renovation, and made the following proposal. It will be reduced to the size at the time of construction in terms of maintainability, design, and structure. When changing from a thatched roof to a tiled roof, the eaves part, which was burdensome, was replaced with a metal roof to reduce weight. Also, since the building was relatively tall at that time, an earthen e北茨城の家は、三方を阿武隈山系の山々に囲まれ、北東側にひらけて集落が点在し、敷地正面には田畑が広がる日本の原風景といえる地味豊かな立地。また敷地内には江戸後期頃と思われる長屋門がある。施主のO氏より、再生にあたってのお話の中で「将来、子供たちに故郷と思える家を残したい」との思いを伺いました。明治後期に建てられたとされ、築110年ほど経過している住まいを、3世代6人の暮らす新たな生活の器として、また次世代へと引き継がれることを視野に入れ計画しました。再生にあたり現地調査をさせて頂き、老朽度及び増改築の履歴等を確認し、次の提案をいたしました。メンテナンス性や意匠及び構造の面から創建時の大きさに減築する。茅葺き屋根から瓦屋根に変えた際に、負担の大きかった軒先き部分を金属屋根に変えて、軽量化を図ること。また当時の建物としては比較的高さがあることから、南側に土庇を設置して縁側的空間を設け、庭と室内の一体感と真夏の日射を遮る事。間取りは、主構造を活かしながら一新しました。玄関から続くホール(南北方向)と新たに設けた中廊下(東西方向)をクロスさせ、4つのゾーンに分けました。南側の和室と奥座敷と広縁は一体的に改修し、客間空間から家族みんなが集う広々としたDK・リビングとしました、伝統的な和の構成は残しつつ、洋の生活スタイルを入れ込みました。その際、古い天井を外して小屋裏の大きな手斧削りの梁を現して天井を高くしました。また、外部に設けた縁側(デッキテラス)を介して前庭とゆるやかに繋がり、室内からも季節の変化を楽しめるよう試みました。南西側を御両親のスペースとし、中廊下の北側へは水廻りと子供室、主寝室と附室をそれぞれ古民家の風情を残しつつ、機能性を重視したプランとしました。併せて、中廊下の上部にトップライトを設け、暗くなりがちな建物中心部に彩光と通風を確保し、家中どこに居ても自然の光と風を感じることの出来る環境を目指しました。既存の建具、欄間、床の間、書院は移設して再利用しました。新旧の異なったデザインの建具は、舞台装置の様に室内全体に変化を与え、シンプルな間取に対して奥行き感を感じさせてくれます。外部は白い漆喰壁と既存の下見板張りを復元、屋根はいぶし瓦葺とし軒先は金属板で葺きました。北茨城地方の伝統的な設えと風情、先祖からの歴史を大切に継承しつつ、大きなガラスや金属屋根などモダンな雰

The site is located on the west side of the Oda Castle Ruins, a nationally designated historic site, in Oda, Tsukuba City, and is located in a historic village surrounded by storehouses and old private houses. This time, we restored the main house built in Showa 3 and the storehouse built in Meiji 26, which was damaged by the earthquake. The main house had not been used for more than 20 years and was dilapidated, but the impact of the earthquake was only slight due to the fact that my mother opened and closed the doors every day and that it had a solid structure. In addition, the meticulous work of the craftsmen at the time of construction and the use of carefully examined good materials can be seen in various places, and the carpenter in charge was surprisingly skillful not only in the construction of the hut, but also in the way the construction was done. The client's request was for a bright and airy indoor environment, a functional and comfortable living, enhanced infrastructure, earthquake reinforcement, barrier for the elderly mother, and antique furniture and room coordination purchased by the couple while living in the UK while retaining the important characteristics of a 敷地はつくば市小田、国の指定史跡小田城址の西側に位置し、周囲には土蔵や古い民家の残る歴史ある集落内に立地。今回は昭和３年築の母屋と、震災で被災した明治２６年築の土蔵の再生を行いました。母屋は２０年以上、使用されずにいたこともあり、老朽化していましたが、お母様が毎日、戸の開け閉めをしていたことや、しっかりとした構造だったこともあり、震災での影響はわずかしか見られませんでした。また、建築当時の職人のち密な仕事ぶり、吟味された良材が使用されていたことが各所に見られ、小屋組みもさることながら、特に仕口の納まりは、担当した大工さんも驚くほどの巧妙さでした。施主からの要望は、民家の大切な特徴を残しつつ、明るく、風通しの良い室内環境、機能的で快適な暮らし、インフラの充実、耐震補強、高齢のお母様の為にバリアフリ－、また、ご夫妻がイギリス在住時に購入された、アンティ－ク家具と部屋とのコ－ディネイト等を希望されました。今回の再生では、南側に当たる土間、座敷、奥座敷の間取りはそのままとし、北側に当たる水廻りは大きく変化させました。部屋の通風、採光を確保する為に、吹抜け空間及び北側に大きな開口を設け、また、機能的な家事動線を考えて浴室を建物中央へ設け、キッチン、洗面、浴室と動線を直線でまとめました。また、これまで台所だった部屋をお母様の趣味である、野菜作りと、その野菜で漬物をつくる部屋にするなど、家族が思い思いに過ごせる居場所づくりも、大切な設計テ－マでした。１階に漬物部屋、奥様の書斎、２階は完全なプライベ－トな空間とし、小屋裏にもトイレを設ける等、隠れ家的な魅力ある空間となりました。耐震性については基礎はベタ基礎とし、土台、足固めを回しました、耐震壁は新築同様の壁量を確保しました。外観は創建当時の特徴は残しながらも、幾分か現代的に代りましたが、なるべく違和感の無いようにディティ－ルに配慮し、日本の農村らしい情景を、将来へ繫げていくことを念頭に置きました。今回、施工を担当した棟梁の生天目氏は、最初に建てた大工に勝るとも劣らない高い技術と気概をもって施工をしてくれました。また、瓦工事、左官工事、建具工事、家具工事その他の職人も、棟梁同様に非常に高い技術で支えてくれました。改めて日本の伝統技術の素晴らしさを再認識したと同時に、後継者育成が急務になりつつあることを感じた現場でした。

The main structures of Keyaki, pine, and cedar are made of large wood, and are characterized by a robust and imposing posture with advanced technology in the joints and joints. In this regeneration, the part that was expanded on the north side was dismantled and returned to its original appearance, and while retaining the main structural materials and large room divisions, the concept of earthquake resistance, functionality, barrier-free, and storage planning was adopted, and the use of the room and the location of the water circulation were greatly changed. I also removed all the old fittings, Buddhist altars, and shrine shelves and had them repaired and reused by a joinery shop. Since there are many opportunities for various people to gather in addition to family, the previous earthen floor was set up like a hotel lounge (with large beams on the ceiling) that connected to the living room, and when the partition fi明治8年（1875年）に建てられ、明治・大正・昭和・平成・令和と、145年間にわたり住まわれてきました。今から55年ほど前に当初の茅葺屋根から瓦屋根に改修され、あわせて入母屋屋根の玄関が設けられ今日に至っています。主要構造の欅や松、杉は大きな木材が使用され、仕口や継ぎ手に高度な技術が施された堅牢かつ威風堂々とした構えが特徴的です。今回の再生では、北側に増築された部分を解体して創建時の姿へ戻し、また主要な構造材と大きな部屋割りは残しつつ、耐震性、機能性、バリアフリー、収納計画の考え方を取り入れ、部屋の用途や水廻りの位置を大きく替えました。古い建具や仏壇・神棚も、すべて一度取り外して建具屋さんに修理して頂き再利用しました。家族以外にも、様々な人の集まる機会が多い事から、それまでの土間を、居間へと繋がるホテルのラウンジ（天井には大きな梁がかかる）のような設えとし、仕切りの建具を開けると20畳を超える広い部屋になり、併せて空間の雰囲気も大きく変化します。暗く風通しのわるかった室内は、新たに設けた中廊下のトップライトから光が入り、通風も計画的に取り入れました。室内の色調は古材・白壁・大谷石というシンプルな素材でまとめ、落ち着きと明るさ、古いものと新しいものとのバランスをはかりました。今回の工事では、気候変動によるゲリラ豪雨や地震等の災害対策として、治水工事や土留め工事等の建物周辺にも及びました。揚屋工事からはじまり一年に及ぶ難度の高い仕事でしたが、施主の理解のもと、大工さんはじめ多くの伝統建築技術の職人さん、またそれをまとめてくれた現場監督さんに支えられて完成にいたりました。これから50年さらに100年と住み繋いで欲しいと思います。
